3rd Annual Fragrance Free Day Friday, August 10th

Happy Friday. Yes Friday. I know, I usually don’t post on Friday. But I have something I want to share and wanted as much time as possible to spread the word.

My mom is very allergic to scented stuff. And we kitties have very sensitive noses. So mom’s careful to buy only fragrance-free stuff for our house. But not everyone is so careful or understands why this might be important. So for the past couple of years, SeaYu (makers of Clean and Green and other products) has been hosting Fragrance Free Day to help spread the word and educate people on why this matters. This year’s Fragrance Free Day will be Friday, August 10.

I got the following email with more details:

“Hi there–

I thought you might want to let your readers know about the 3rd Annual Fragrance Free Day happening next Friday, August 10th, hosted by SeaYu.

The Environmental Protection Association (EPA) states that fragranced products like air fresheners, fabric refreshers and traditional cleaning products contribute to poor indoors air quality, which can lead to health issues, especially for pets with their faster metabolisms and respiratory systems, and close proximity to the ground.

Fragrance Free Day helps raise awareness about the dangers of fragrances in personal care and household products by giving people the chance to go “fragrance free” for one day.  That means no perfumes, colognes, scented lotions or harsh cleaning products with added fragrances for one full day!

On Fragrance Free Day (August 10th), SeaYu will be hosting a live Twitter chat from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EST using hashtag #fragrancefreeday. Participants can get all their questions and concerns about fragranced products answered by a panel of experts including:

-Quincy Yu, Founder of SeaYu and green living expert
-Dr. Patrick Mahaney, Veterinarian, Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist
-Dr. Stephan Ziman, organic chemist

I thought you might help us spread the word about Fragrance Free Day using your social channels (Twitter, Facebook and of course, your blog!).  And be sure to join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #fragrancefreeday!

Let me know if I can provide any more information.

Thanks so much!

Shelley”

Please help spread the word. This is really important for people who have respiratory issues or people who are staff to pets of any kind. Fragrance Free is the only way to be!

Disclosure – we received no compensation of any kind for running this post.

  1. M has some problems also. Not serious ones, but she starts sneezing if she’s around perfume or heavily scented products. She’s been using fragrance free things for a few years now

    1. Thanks for letting me know where my pic was. Somehow I missed the whole day 4 post! And there are some pawsome pics in that post, especially my pal Faraday.

  2. I wish this was something more people were aware of. Many people fail to consider the sensitive noses and small bodies of pets or children and how the chemicals of scent causes headaches, muscle and joint pain, irritability etc. I personally am highly sensitive to chemicals such as Fragrances, and I find many people are insensitive and selfish. People can be so obsessed with vanity (they think fragrances make them more physically attractive, though it does nothing for one’s appearance), or their need to “get noticed” that they abuse fragrances. Not even churches will have fragrance free worship. Many of us cannot attend church because of the chemicals. It is a bad problem in this country and people are duped all for the $$Profit$ of those making these chemicals.
