A New Carrier!

Happy Sunday everyone. Boy, did I get a surprise from mom. My birthday’s coming up soon, so I guess this was an early birthday present. I got a new carrier!

We have 3 kitties, but only had 2 carriers in this house. Granted, we’re all on the small side so two of us could probably share, but mom went out and got me a new one anyway. And it’s much nicer than the carriers EK and Candy have. But since I’m the queen kitty, that’s the way it should be! MOL

Like my stroller and kennel, it’s made by Pet Gear. That wasn’t intentional. Mom wanted a certain size and features and the one she found just happened to be a Pet Gear carrier. She wanted something bigger than our other carriers, but smaller than the kennel. It had to be something easy to carry and secure in the car, but still give me room to move around and see out the windows. And the price was right. Check this out! Of course, Candy & EK had to check it out too. But it’s MY carrier!

It has a strap on the top too to carry it just in your hand. It also has expanding sections on each side that can add an extra 3″ of width when both are expanded. You can’t see them in the picture, but there’s loops at the bottom to run a seatbelt through. Then you wrap the carry strap around the headrest and tighten it up, and the carrier is secured in the car. We tested that out yesterday when mom took me to the Denver Pet Expo. (I’ll tell you about that next week). It worked purrfectly!

I’ve been napping in my new carrier ever since it arrived. In fact, I’m all curled up in it right now as I dictate this post to my typist! The carrier is also supposed to meet airline regulations. We haven’t contacted any airlines to check if that’s true or not.

That’s is for today. Have a great week everybody!

  1. WOW – now that looks like a nice carrier. M likes the fact that it’;s on wheels. She can’t take me to the vet by myself because the carrier is heavy with me in it. D always has to come with and his back isn’t that great either. M said she’s going to go check that out. Congratulations sweetie – you deserve.

    1. Glad I could help you! There’s lots of models of carriers with wheels. And the same carrier will have different prices depending on color. We got pink not just cuz it’s my color but also because it was cheaper than the other colors of the same carrier. Weird. I think the orange was cheaper, too. There’s another model that’s a little bigger, but since I might go on a plane to Blogpaws next year, mom got the under the seat size.

There are other brands too. We just always seem to wind up with Pet Gear stuff. Isn’t that funny?

  2. Wow, that is an awesome carrier! Does it just stay that size, or does it fold up to airline standards? Not that it matters, ’cause I’m not going anywhere but my human is curious just in case some future kitty is less travel-adverse.

    1. The sides zip up so it gets 3″ narrower than shown. According to the description, it’s supposed to meet airline regulations. I haven’t actually verified that. I would think since it’s soft, if it was laid on it’s back it would fit under the seat.

There are other brands and sizes that have wheels and stuff and are definitely airline compliant. Mom was mostly concerned with price, ease of use for her with her bad back, and my comfort in the car. This met all those requirements.

    1. On an airplane or would she drive? Mom’s really worried about flying with me cuz of all the stuff she’d have to bring and how to get litter to the hotel.

      1. That’s so cool!
Do you live within driving distance?

I’d only bring Waffles if I can get him harness trained, people-trained, etc… I’d be torn on driving vs. flying too. It’s a haul for me in MN…but I’ve done it before. That’s just an awfully long time in a car. I’m almost thinking that flying would be less stress on him. It I lived only say, 8 hours away or less…I’d probably drive and just stop regularly.

I’d probably also talk to my vet about it…she knows him really well and could help advise.

I’d love to hear what you decide to do!!
