Product Review – Dream Treats

Happy Sunday everyone! We got sunshines and warm temps today, thank cat! I hope the deep freeze so many of us have been in all winter will be over soon.

20140309_090048The nice people at have sent us another treat for taste testing – Dream Treats rabbit flavor for dogs, cats, and ferrets! This is the first thing I’ve reviewed that’s also good for ferrets. My many ferret pals will be happy about that.

Here’s the ingredient list. I copied it from the website.

“Rabbit, Natural Flavor, Taurine, Organic Blueberry, Organic Barley Grass, Chia Seeds, Broccoli Sprouts, Carrots, Plums, Whey, Sea Salt, Dried Kelp, Yeast Extract, Citric Acid, Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract, Yeast Culture, Minerals (Potassium Chloride, Zinc Proteinate, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Iron Proteinate, Copper Sulfate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Sulfate, Manganese Proteinate, Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate), Calcium Carbonate, Vitamins (Ascorbic Acid [source of Vitamin C], Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Folic Acid), Dried Bacillus licheniformis Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus oryzae Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus niger Fermentation Product, Dried Enterococcus faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus casei Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Bacillus subtilis Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus plantarum Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus lactis Fermentation Product”

20140309_090201Looks like a pretty good list of ingredients. Mom thinks so, anyway. All I know is they tasted pretty good. EK and I nommed our pieces right up. So taste wise, these get a thumbs up from us (so far). Candy wasn’t around, so she didn’t get any.

The treats come in a cookie shape. That’s great for dogs, but not so great for us kitties or for ferrets. Maybe they need to think about making the treats in pet appropriate sizes so the moms don’t have to break up the treats into little pieces. We all know how lazy the moms are. And the cookie’s kind of thick, so it’s a bit hard for mom with her bad hands to break up into small enough pieces.

A word about treats and kitties in general. We change our minds – a lot. Treats we loved last week sit uneaten this week. That’s how it went with the Orijen treats. We loved them for about half the bag. Then we stopped eating them. I’ve heard other kitties say they do the same thing. So don’t do what my mom recently did  – order multiple bags of treats just cuz we were enthusiastic about the treats at the start. MOL My mom never does learn.

That’s it for today. Have a great week everyone!

Edit: I just heard from my ferret furriends @informedferret that because these treats have vegetables that they’re actually not good for ferrets. So I don’t know why they say on the package that it’s for ferrets too.

Disclaimer – we got the treats free from for taste testing. We received no other compensation and our opinions, as always, are our own.

  1. We liked these treats too – and we also agree about making them species-specific size! They are not that easy to break apart, at least according to my human. She made kind of a mess.

  3. We’re like that with treats too. There’s a lot of half bags of treats in our cupboard. We’ll give these treats a look and see if they’re something we would like. Good review. 🙂
