In Honor of Louise Hobson

Dearest pals, as you all know we’ve recently lost one of the brightest lights in the anipal community, Louise Hobson. She was a gracious, thoughtful, kind, generous, and all around wonderful lady, and will be greatly missed. It’s a comfort to know she’s over the Rainbow Bridge and reunited with her darling @petiethecat.

Louise asked that instead of sending flowers that donations be made to D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Center (http://www.darcysarc.ca/). I would like to help that effort along, but since I’m a kitty, I don’t really have any money. But I do have a book!

lakewithpetiebookFor those of you who are new to the anipal community may not know that I put together a book about @petiethecat and the first summer we spent at his lake house in Canada. The book is Summer at the Lake with Petie, and is available only at Blurb.com.  In honor of Louise, I will donate $1 to D’Arcy’s ARC from every print copy and .50 from each ebook sold by the end of the year.

A few things about books at Blurb. An author has to have a certain amount of profit before Blurb will pay. As Summer at the Lake with Petie sells so few copies, I’ll be pulling the book down at the end of the year so I can collect a final payment and make the donation. Also, I have to admit that the ebook copies didn’t come out great and I couldn’t figure out how to fix them. The book was designed to be the small, square, softcover edition, so that one looks the best.

Please help spread the word so I can sell lots of copies and make a big donation to D’arcy’s Arc. They make great holiday presents, so order lots! Thank you.

Good-bye dearest Sparkle

Sparkle082014aOh my furriends, I come to you today with leaky eyes and a broken heart. My furriend and inspurration, Sparkle, has left us.

Sparkle and her human, Janiss, shared themselves, their wit, their wisdom, and the very best they had to give with all of us who or write blogs. Sparkle, I’ll miss you furry much. I didn’t have any pics of you so I borrowed one from you blog. I hope that was ok. I just couldn’t write about you without showing everyone how beautiful you were. And for those of you who never got to meet Sparkle, she was just as beautiful on the inside as on the outside.

I know my words don’t do Sparkle justice. But if you follow the linkys in the list below, there are a lot of pawsome bloggers there that are much better with words than I am and have beautifully expressed how we’re all feeling right now. I hope you’ll visit some of them. If you’d like to embed the linky code in your own blog, you can get it from Glogirly. Also, I’ve turned off comments on this blog. If you’d like to express your condolences, please go to Sparkle’s blog, Sparkle the Designer Cat, and leave a comment there.

Rest in peace, dearest Sparkle.

“Use Grammarly for online proofreading because kitty time is precious! Who wants to spend time proofreading when you could be nomming or napping? MOL!

Before I get to the main part of my blog, I have sad news to report. Many of you know Daffy (@NoCryBabyDogs) and her mom, Ingrid. This week, Ingrid lost her battle with lung cancer and went to the human rainbow bridge. Ingrid was one of the kindest, gentlest, and most generous souls you could ever meet. Her passing is a great loss to the anipal community. Now for the amazing part – Daffy already has a new home! She’s going to live with @danapixie, Mr. Pixie, and their kitty, TSK! Daffy has seizures and other health problems. If she’d had to go to a shelter, chances are no one would have adopted her. We’re all furry greatful to Dana for making sure Daffy is going to be loved and cared for the rest of her life. There’s a whole caravan of pals who are going to help transport Daffy from Kansas to Oregon.

I’ve been a member of the anipal community for four years now. I’ve seen the generosity and the way anipals take care of each other over and over and over even if we’ve never met face to face. I’m always amazed at how the community pulls together for pals in trouble. And I’m proud to be a member of such a loving and caring community. And now on to today’s topic.

You’ve seen Grammarly talked about on some of the other blogs. We writers are busy kitties, and we need all the help we can get, so I’m testing it out on my post today. Especially since our household just got a lot busier, so I have less blogging time than ever. You see, Mom’s trying to start a new business.

That’s right! Mom’s going into real estate investing. While she’s learning the ropes, it’s furry time consuming. She has to learn how to find the right places, work different types of financing and contracts, and all kinds of things. Plus, aside from working 40 hours a week at her regular job, she has to go look at properties to see what kind of shape they’re in and how much fixing they need. It all takes lots and lots of time.

All that extra time she needs is time I don’t have a typist. That means I don’t get to spend time on twitter or my blog. Pffft! I don’t like that furry much. But if  mom can figure this out and make a success of it, in the long run it will mean she can work from home and I’ll have lots of time to spend online. So I guess I have to put up with the lack of computer time for now.

By the way, if you know anyone who wants to invest in property in Colorado but wants someone local to do all the legwork, have them contact me via the form on my blog. I’ll give the information to Mom so she can follow up with them.

I ran the above text through Grammarly to see what it would find. There were a few errors, but I couldn’t get the specifics because I didn’t want to give them a credit card number to finish setting up the account. I would have like to get a proper test without giving a credit card number. I was amazed by how much stuff Grammarly tests for. If I was a serious writer or a teacher, I would find this furry useful.

That’s it for this week (finally)! Sorry my post is a bit long this week, but I had a lot to say. Wish Mom luck on her new endeavor and I’ll be back eventually. Have a great week everyone!
