Pumpkinpuddy’s mom here.

Hi everyone. I wanted to tell you a little bit about where Pumpkin and I live.
We live in Colorado, just outside of Denver. We live on the plains area part of town. We can see forever from our back door. To the south we can see all the way to Pikes Peak, which is about 70 miles away. To the west we can see the Rocky Mountains. And right outside our back fence is an open space park. 10 minutes north is a state park and 10 minutes south is a nature reserve. There’s lots of wildlife around, even though we’re only 25 minutes from downtown Denver. We have coyotes, fox, prairie dogs, bunnies, and over 300 varieties of birds, including birds of prey. Of course, I don’t let Pumpkin run loose. She could get eaten!

There’s tons to do around here no matter what you like to do. There’s every kind of outdoor activity you could imagine. There are museums, zoos, botanic gardens, and all kinds of cultural facilities. There’s some of the best theater in the country, and a world class symphony orchestra. And I’m proud to say that I’ve been singing with the symphony chorus for 20 years.

The climate here is fantastic. Winter temps average 45 degrees (F) and it’s dry, so 45 actually feels quite warm. Summer can be hot, but it always cools down at night so there’s relief from the heat. The weather can change very quickly. One of the first things someone said to me when I first moved here was if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes, it will change. Just a couple weeks ago it was gorgeous in the morning, blizzarding overnight, and by afternoon the next day it was warm enough to be out in shorts shoveling the snow.
This morning we woke up to something we normally don’t see – fog. Most days it’s sunny. In fact, we get over 300 days of sunshine a year.

I tried to insert a bunch of pictures, but I’m finding it’s really hard to get the pictures where I want them and to get the text to line up properly, so I’ll put in a link to the pictures. If anyone can suggest a blog site that’s easier to deal with, I’d appreciate it. I’d like to make the change before we get too many posts in.

Adventures of a Suburban Kitty

Random stuff

First, I want to say how overwhelmed I am by the response to my first two posts. Mom and I are going to spend some serious time this weekend investigating the sites of anipals who are either following me or left comments so I can get to know you all better.

Some of you commented on how you would like a stroller but you didn’t think it would hold  you. This is the stroller I got: Pet-Gear-All-Terrain-Stroller-60-pounds. I only weigh 8 pounds, but Mom wanted me to have lots of moving around room and she wanted the all terrain tires. There are lots of other sizes, too. No, I don’t get a commission for the link. I just really like my stroller.

Don’t forget about Anipal April. Vote for all your anipals for best of Twitter at Faxo.com. Let’s see how many of the front pages we can fill with anipals this month. Then we can turn it back over to the humans next month.

I’ll try not to do anymore posts like this. From now on I’ll focus on my Mom, my friends, and my adventures. Also, I’d like to invite any of our friends who can travel by mail to visit. There are lots of cool things to see and do in Colorado, and I’d love to take a friend along for adventures.

Edit: Just found out about Be the Change and adding that to the to-do list for this weekend. Mom already contacted the Cat Care Society to find out about putting a donation badge on my blog. We have to look into what else we can do to help out.

I’m just too smart for my own good.

Mom took me for a walk in my stroller yesterday, and decided to let me have some running around time outside the stroller. Well, I figured out how to get out of my harness and almost got away. Mom packed me up into the stroller again lickety split!

We’re walking back to the house and the next thing Mom knows is my little head is sticking out of the stroller where the cover unzips. That’s right, I figured out how to unzip the stroller cover. (Now I know why Mom makes me wear a harness and leash inside the stroller.) Mom zipped the stroller back up and got me home really fast.

Mom ordered this new harness and leash for me. For those who know her, this is Baby Patches mom’s site.
Mom’s hoping I won’t figure out how to get out of this one. If I do figure out how to get out of it, I don’t think I’ll be getting anymore walks outside. And I for sure won’t be getting any out-of-the-stroller time. I’ll post a pic of me in my new harness when it comes. Mom got blue to match the stroller.

Purrs everyone!
