What an adventure!

Happy Sunday everyone. I told you I’d have something really special for you today and I do. Mom had an amazing adventure this summer. She got to go to Switzerland! All the stuffies fought over who would get to go with her. In the end, Kiwi won. He’s easy to pack, stands up nicely, and he’s never been on a trip with mom before. And since he originally came to us from d’Artagnan Rumblepurr in New Zealand, he’s quite the international traveler already. So I’m gonna let Kiwi take it from here.

The Alps
The Alps

Hi pals. Kiwi here! I can’t believe I was the lucky one who got to go to Switzerland with mom to visit Auntie Kirsten. We were mostly in Zurich, but we rode trains, trams, buses, and boats all over the country. It was so beautiful there.

The picture above was taken from the roof of the apartment building Auntie Kirsten was staying in. You could see so much of the city from there and when the weather was clear, you could see the Alps. We were very lucky with the weather. It rained lots in the days before we got there and again after we left. But we only had 1 day of rain when we were there. It didn’t stop us though! We still went out walking around Zurich.

Mom took hundreds of pictures. She helped me use Shutterfly to make a book of the pictures and posted the pictures and the book on the Shutterfly site. And no, Shutterfly didn’t ask us to do a review and didn’t give us anything for this. Mom’s used Shutterfly for years. Anyway, here’s the link to the Shutterfly site: https://cherylsadventures8.shutterfly.com/. Some of mom’s past travels with other stuffies are posted there too. You can see just the pictures, or the book with my comments in it. You’ll have to forgive my typos – typing with a beak isn’t very accurate.

The one thing we really wanted to see but didn’t was the Matterhorn. We rode the Glacier Express all the way to Zermatt, but when we got there it was cloudy and raining. Sigh. Otherwise, the trip was perfect. Mom got to see everything else on her must see list, and we had lots of nommy eats. I do have to say that the restaurants there are very expensive. We wound up packing lunch every day to save some money. The hotels there are also very expensive so we were glad Auntie Kirsten let us stay with her. Now I’m gonna turn this back over to Pumpkin.

Thanks Kiwi. I’m so jealous that the stuffies get the best adventures. I know I get to go some places with mom, but they get to go to the really exciting places. *pout* Anyway, that’s all for today. Have a great week everyone!

Product Review – Whole Earth Farms Canned Cat Food

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you all have a safe and fun-filled day and not too much scary fireworks.

I told you I got two things last month to try for free from Chewy.com. I’m here to tell you how the second one went. In two words, not well.

20160607_182123We tried Whole Earth Farms Grain-Free Real Chicken Pate Recipe. The ingredients looked pretty good. Here’s the list from the Chewy.com website: Chicken, Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Dried Egg Product, Natural Flavor, Sodium Alginate, Dried Peas, Potato Protein, Dried Potatoes, Calcium Lactate, Salt, Sodium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Organic Dried Alfalfa Meal, Potassium Chloride, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Niacin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate), Flaxseed Oil, Taurine, Choline Chloride, Minerals (Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Iron Amino Acid Complex, Manganese Amino Acid Complex, Copper Amino Acid Complex, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Glucoheptonate, Sodium Selenite), Guar Gum, Caramel Color, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme. As you can see, the first ingredient is chicken, which is a good thing.

You would think that we would have gobbled this up as much as we love chicken. No such luck. Mom tried several cans to see if we’d eat it if she put it out often enough and this is all that happened:20160610_231021

Candy ate a little bit, sometimes I ate a little, and EK wanted nothing to do with it (as usual). Maybe we would have done better with the duck flavor cuz EK likes duck. Anyway, like everything else we won’t eat, the rest of the case didn’t go to waste. Mom’s friend with the gazillion cats gets everything we test that we don’t like.

That’s if for today. Hope you’ll join me next time for something really special. And no, it’s not another product review. Have a great week everyone!

Disclaimer – We got the food for free from chewy.com to taste test. Our opinions, as always, are our own. You can’t make a cat eat what she won’t eat! MOL

Product Review – Sheba Perfect Portions

Happy Sunday everyone. We got the hots going here – high 90s for days and days on end. Between the snow and rain all spring, and now the too hots, I haven’t had a stroller outing since last fall. This stinks! I hope next weekend is cooler so I can go out.

20160607_181954I haven’t reviewed a product for chewy.com for a while, and now I have two to tell you about. This weekend I’ll tell you about Sheba Perfect Portions Grain-Free Multipack Poultry Entrees Cat Food Trays. The poultry variety has 12 servings of chicken and 12 of turkey. It comes in a seafood variety, too, with 12 salmon and 12 whitefish & tuna. Mom doesn’t feed us fish (it doesn’t sit well with me) so we never try the seafood flavors.

20160608_181536The portions are just right for a single serving. And at $8.82 for a case of 24, that comes out to 37 cents a serving. That’s about the most affordable grain-free option I’ve found. Perfect Portions has lots of good stuff in it, and mom couldn’t really find anything she objected to in the list.

She’s not thrilled with the way it’s packed. The little plastic trays have a foil top you have to peel off. It’s a little difficult to peel and mom always winds up with the gravy all over her hands. But as always, what’s most important is do we kitties like it.

EK checked it out before mom even got it into our dishes. He wasn’t too impressed.

We girls, on the other hand dug right it! We ate ours and then shared EK’s.20160608_181708

Clean plates!20160608_183508

So the search for a grain-free wet food that all three of us will eat still goes on. Mom may have to give up and settle for two out of three of us eating it. And if she does, Perfect Portions is near the top of the list.

I’ll have another review for you next weekend. In the meantime, try to stay cool. Have a great week everyone!
