AAHA and a Giveaway

Happy Sunday everyone! I got something special for today. The nice people from AAHA were at Blogpaws again this year. They were giving away $50 towards a vet visit at an AAHA accredited facility that the winning blogs could give away to their readers. And I won one! More about the contest at the end, but first (and most impawtant) some info about AAHA.

Pumpkin's first vet visitMost of you have seen this picture before. It’s me at my first vet visit. I love my vet cuz he’s a real kitty person. He even has kitties at home. But more impawtant, his clinic is AAHA accredited. I bet you’re asking what’s AAHA and why accreditation matters.

You all know that human hospitals have to undergo independent rigorous testing to make sure they meet certain standards for how they do things and how they treat patients. Well, vet hospitals don’t have to go through this testing in order to take care of us.

But there are people who want their pets to have the same level of care that humans get and that’s where AAHA comes in. AAHA stands for American Animal Hospital Association. They’re an independent agency that sets standards for animal care. Vet hospitals don’t have to get this accreditation, but currently about 12% to 15% of vet hospitals are accredited. If more pet parents knew about this and asked their vets about it, I think more hospitals would get accredited! I know we have added peace of mind knowing ours is.

It’s not easy to get. If you want see what the guidelines are, you can see them here: Guidelines and Position Statements. There’s a locator tool to help you find an AAHA-accredited vetinary hospital. You can also sign up for their Pets Matter e-newsletter.

If you’d like a chance at winning the $50 gift certificate, enter in the Rafflecopter widget below. You can enter until midnight on 5/31/14. You must be 18 or older to enter and live in the USA. Or if you live outside the USA, you can donate your prize to someone in the USA. I’ll announce the winner next Sunday.

Blogpaws 2014

Happy Sunday everyone! Mom went to Blogpaws without me this time. But she did take Lippe Jr. and Barnabus. And Mini Breeze is visiting us so he went along too! They had a great time, got to visit with lots of friends, went to some great workshops, and brought home lots and lots of goodies. In fact, there’s way too many goodies to review them individually, so I’ll be reviewing several things at a time. But for today, there’s just some pictures. I’ll let Barnabus tell you all about it.

Barnabus here. The hotel was the Westin Lake Las Vegas and it was spectacular. We had an awesome room with a patio outside. It was so relaxing. It was worth the trip just for the hotel. But of course, that wasn’t the only reason we were there. I’m only going to post a few of the over 100 pictures mom took. I’m not posting any of the embarrassing ones. At least not today. Maybe someday in the future when I have nothing else to post about. *wink* MOL!

Mom was really excited when she saw what we won from the Catification Lounge. It’s covered in sisal, which is EK’s favorite thing to scratch. When Mom unboxed it EK jumped right on it and started scratching. None of us have used the hideaway part yet, but we probably will eventually.

That’s it for today. Have a great week everyone!

MiniBreeze is here!

Happy Sunday everyone! I can’t believe I haven’t blogged in over a month. *hangs head* But there just hasn’t been anything to blog about. Life in our house has been monumentally boring. *snore* But now we have company!

IMG_4495That’s right! MiniBreeze is here for a visit. Here he’s getting acquainted with us kitties and reacquainted with his pal, Lippe Jr.  He’s going to BlogPaws with mom, so we’re not going to get to spend much time with him for a while. But we’ll have other company – mom’s aunt is gonna stay with us while mom’s gone. She’s a good kitty sitter and she’s generous with the treats, so we’re ok with her taking care of us.

Spring is finally really here. That means I should get a stroller outing soon. Cross your paws that I don’t have to wait too much longer for an outing. In the meantime, we’ve been getting lots of open window time.

That’s it for now! I hope to have lots to tell you about when mom gets back from BlogPaws. I can’t wait to see what goodies she brings home to us. Have a great week everyone!
