Product Review – Whole Earth Farms Canned Cat Food

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you all have a safe and fun-filled day and not too much scary fireworks.

I told you I got two things last month to try for free from I’m here to tell you how the second one went. In two words, not well.

20160607_182123We tried Whole Earth Farms Grain-Free Real Chicken Pate Recipe. The ingredients looked pretty good. Here’s the list from the website: Chicken, Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Dried Egg Product, Natural Flavor, Sodium Alginate, Dried Peas, Potato Protein, Dried Potatoes, Calcium Lactate, Salt, Sodium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Organic Dried Alfalfa Meal, Potassium Chloride, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Niacin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate), Flaxseed Oil, Taurine, Choline Chloride, Minerals (Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Iron Amino Acid Complex, Manganese Amino Acid Complex, Copper Amino Acid Complex, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Glucoheptonate, Sodium Selenite), Guar Gum, Caramel Color, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme. As you can see, the first ingredient is chicken, which is a good thing.

You would think that we would have gobbled this up as much as we love chicken. No such luck. Mom tried several cans to see if we’d eat it if she put it out often enough and this is all that happened:20160610_231021

Candy ate a little bit, sometimes I ate a little, and EK wanted nothing to do with it (as usual). Maybe we would have done better with the duck flavor cuz EK likes duck. Anyway, like everything else we won’t eat, the rest of the case didn’t go to waste. Mom’s friend with the gazillion cats gets everything we test that we don’t like.

That’s if for today. Hope you’ll join me next time for something really special. And no, it’s not another product review. Have a great week everyone!

Disclaimer – We got the food for free from to taste test. Our opinions, as always, are our own. You can’t make a cat eat what she won’t eat! MOL

Product Review – Sheba Perfect Portions

Happy Sunday everyone. We got the hots going here – high 90s for days and days on end. Between the snow and rain all spring, and now the too hots, I haven’t had a stroller outing since last fall. This stinks! I hope next weekend is cooler so I can go out.

20160607_181954I haven’t reviewed a product for for a while, and now I have two to tell you about. This weekend I’ll tell you about Sheba Perfect Portions Grain-Free Multipack Poultry Entrees Cat Food Trays. The poultry variety has 12 servings of chicken and 12 of turkey. It comes in a seafood variety, too, with 12 salmon and 12 whitefish & tuna. Mom doesn’t feed us fish (it doesn’t sit well with me) so we never try the seafood flavors.

20160608_181536The portions are just right for a single serving. And at $8.82 for a case of 24, that comes out to 37 cents a serving. That’s about the most affordable grain-free option I’ve found. Perfect Portions has lots of good stuff in it, and mom couldn’t really find anything she objected to in the list.

She’s not thrilled with the way it’s packed. The little plastic trays have a foil top you have to peel off. It’s a little difficult to peel and mom always winds up with the gravy all over her hands. But as always, what’s most important is do we kitties like it.

EK checked it out before mom even got it into our dishes. He wasn’t too impressed.

We girls, on the other hand dug right it! We ate ours and then shared EK’s.20160608_181708

Clean plates!20160608_183508

So the search for a grain-free wet food that all three of us will eat still goes on. Mom may have to give up and settle for two out of three of us eating it. And if she does, Perfect Portions is near the top of the list.

I’ll have another review for you next weekend. In the meantime, try to stay cool. Have a great week everyone!

Product Review – Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore Variety Pack Canned Cat Food

Hi everyone! We’ve been experimenting with food again courtesy of We love being bloggers for because we get to taste test all kinds of stuff, with mixed success. This time was more successful than most.

20160205_081829This time we tested Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore Variety Pack Canned Cat Food. There were 12 cans in 9 different flavors! This is good stuff. Here’s what the Chewy website has to say about this food:

Key Benefits

  • Grain and gluten-free recipe
  • 55% protein, 35% fat, 0% carb
  • Made with whole meats
  • With added vitamins, minerals and trace nutrients
  • Carbohydrate, starch and flour free
  • Zero glycemic index
  • Meets the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for All Life Stages

20160205_181650Sounds good to me and to mom. You know how picky she is about what we eat. The one thing she was worried about is that this food is shreds and chunks, and we usually only eat paté.

Well, we ate it up! Except for the liver chunks, we ate all 9 flavors. Mom was flabbergasted. We’d tried so many foods that were shreds and chunks that we wouldn’t eat that mom was sure we wouldn’t eat this, either. We fooled her! We thought this food was so nommy we cleaned our plates. Well, except for, as I said, the bits of liver. They were mixed in with other things so we ate around them. Unfortunately, this food costs four times what mom’s been paying for the food we eat now, and she can’t afford that. We wish she could cuz we really liked this food.

We’d also gotten some dog treats by mistake, so I gave them to my neighbor. They were the Natural Balance Dental Chews. She emailed me to let me know if the dog liked them. Here’s what she had to say:

“Bella really likes the Natural Balance Dental Chews.  She actually led me over to the container they are stored in this morning.  She gets lots of chewing time with them, so I believe they will be helpful with her dental hygiene.  I will repurchase them when needed.  I’m am pleased they are a limited ingredient product.”

That’s it for today. Have a great weekend everyone!

Disclaimer – Like everything else we test for, we got this food for free to taste test. We received no compensation. And our opinion, as always, is our own. You can’t make a kitty eat something she doesn’t wanna eat!
