BlogPaws Day 3

Do you believe BlogPaws was two weeks ago and I’m still writing about it? MOL And there’ll be one more post after this one.

Saturday’s keynote speaker was Lena West, founder of Influence Expansion. She spoke about what influence is, how to expand your influence, and how that translates into helping your business make money. She also emphasized that we have to believe in ourselves and that we deserve to be successful. She spoke about being focused – “If you’re not good at one thing, how can you be good at several?” I thought that was an excellent point. I know I’m one for scattering myself all over the place! MOL

My first workshop on Saturday was Copyright with Emily Campbell from Dunlop Codding and Jason Merrihew from AAHA. Emily spoke about copyright issues involved when you use stuff you find on the web and when you have to disclose your relationship with a company when you write about them. Jason spoke about where to find credible sources and how to judge the sources you find.

After lunch was a workshop on Analytics with Robin Olson from Covered in Cat Hair and Sam Moore from Resonetrics. They spoke about how you can use analytics to find out what’s going on with your blog and how to use those analytics to focus on what you want or need to change to drive traffic. You can find out what’s working and what isn’t. They also talked about how to increase your effective presence on Facebook and gave some info on Pinterest.

My last workshop was with Lena West. She had given away a blog makeover at breakfast and her afternoon workshop was our getting to watch her makeover the blog. Of course, I wanted to win the makeover, but I wasn’t so lucky. I wasn’t too upset though because the winner was my good pal @cheshireK (Robin) over at Cheshire Loves Karma. Lena gave Robin some excellent advice about unifying her look (having blog and business cards look alike), moving to a self-hosted blog, and cleaning up her look. There were other bits of advice, too. If you saw the blog before but haven’t seen it since Robin implemented Lena’s advice, you’ll be amazed at the changes! The blog looks absolutely fantastic!

Saturday night was the Nose-to-Nose Social Media Pet Blogging Awards sponsored by Halo, Purely for Pets and We got our picture taken on the red cawpet. I wore my beautiful pink pearls that @MizzBassie made for me. If you haven’t see her pet necklaces, you have to check them out! You can see them at I just love mine!

There was a whole bunch of us having an online Twitter pawty from Blogpaws during the event. I got to Barktend! We had loads of fun. I hope most of you were there and also watched the awards being streamed. If you missed out and want to see who the winners were, they’re listed at the BlogPaws website.

As soon as the evening’s festivities ended, it was back to the room to pack. We were leaving extremely early in the morning because it was supposed to be very hot the next day. I’ll tell you about that and the drive home in the next installment. I’ll be indirectly blogging about BlogPaws for a long time. We got so many samples and so much information that I’ll be doing product reviews and blogs inspired by BlogPaws for some time to come.

I was sad to leave BlogPaws and to say good-bye to all the wonderful people and pets I met there. Getting to know my pals in pawson made them all that much more special to me. I’m glad I have my pictures to keep their faces fresh in my memory.
