Happy New Year everyone! I hope the new year brings you health, happiness, and all good things.
Speaking of health, today I’m gonna talk about a not very pleasant topic – poop! That’s right – poop. A cat’s poop can tell you a lot about the cat’s health. What’s that got to do with a product review? Our November product for testing from Chewy.com was Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets FortiFlora Probiotic Cat Supplement. Mom was real excited to see that available. You see, we have a problem kitty – EK. His poop is like soup! (like my rhyme?)
He’s been to the vet and the vet said nothing’s wrong with him. He’s not sick, he doesn’t have worms, there’s nothing the vet could find. We’ve tried pumpkin, sweet potato, a limited ingredient diet with a different protein source, and more wet food and less dry food. We tried a raw diet, but no one would eat it. Mom knew FortiFlora is supposed to be good for kitty tummies, so we decided that should be our November test item.
FortiFlora doesn’t work right away, so that’s part of why this review is so late. We wanted EK to have it for a while before I wrote the review. Well, it’s helped a little. Between the FortiFlora and the limited ingredient diet, EK’s poop has gone from soup to still too soft but it now has a poop shape. Maybe we haven’t found the right protein source yet.
That’s it for today. I’m way behind on reviews so I’ve got two more coming up for you over the next week or so. Happy New Year!
Disclaimer – we received the FortiFlora for free from Chewy.com to review. We received no other compensation and as always, our opinion is strictly our own.
I got an email from Purina asking me if I’d be interested in getting a sample of of their new product, Fancy Feast Mornings, and getting four samples to give away on my blog. Now, I have to confess. I already had samples from BlogPaws, but I wasn’t gonna turn down the chance to give some away to my pals.
Mornings comes in a variety of flavors and two styles. The one we tried and will be giving away is the Soufflé With White Meat Chicken, Garden Veggies and Egg.
Now, I have to tell you, we’re not big on canned food. Mom splits a 3 oz can between us, it usually sits a while before we start eating it and we generally only eat about half of that and the rest gets thrown out. Sometimes we don’t even eat that much of it. Mom put this in our dishes and we dove right in! We even ate most of it. Look at our plates. That’s clean for us. Just a few crumbs left.
Mom likes it too because it has eggs in it. She’s been trying to get us to eat eggs for our coats. It’s very dry in Colorado and our coats need all the help they can get.
There is one thing about it I don’t like – there’s not a grain-free variety. Mom’s really trying to go grain-free for us because Candy has a chronically icky tummy and she does much better on a grain-free diet. Besides, kitties are carnivores, we don’t eat grain. Are you listening Purina, we want a grain-free version! *stamps paw*
I did mention I was giving away four samples, didn’t I? OK. Here’s how you enter – sign in to the Rafflecopter widget below and follow the directions. Leaving a comment saying you want to enter is mandatory, the rest of the choices are optional. This is my first time using Rafflecopter, so make sure you leave me a way to get hold of you (preferably email) in your comment just in case I did something wrong and Rafflecopter doesn’t work. You can enter today through 7/18/12 and I’ll announce the winners on the 19th.
Edit: I’ve had pals click thru the rafflecopter stuff but not actually do the steps. No comment, no tweet, no FB follow, nothing. Rafflecopter does track what you click. If you haven’t actually done the steps, your entries will be eliminated before the drawing. Just because a step is optional to do, doesn’t mean you can say you did it and not do it. It just means you don’t have to get that extra entry if you don’t want to. C’mon folks. Play fair!
